Captivated by You – Sylvia Day

Oh I have missed reading so so so so much. I found this book frustrating at times and at times very close to home. Every relationship goes through tough times. It was definitely a filler to keep everyone waiting for the last book. At times it felt like another Fifty Shades of Grey. Why do we women have an urge of fixing men? Not that I am any different, but let’s find a new topic to talk about.

Before even picking up the book, I knew there wouldn’t be anything materialistic in this novel would make me want to continue reading like the first two books. There was nothing omg about this book, it was a nice romantic part of their life just like the previous book that they are one step closer to being with each other without hiccups. Deep down, I know what 5th book is going to be about. But regardless, I am waiting for this very long journey of crossfire series to have a happy ending.

Very few books bring a tear in my eye and this was one of them, so kudos to Sylvia Day.

Fifty Shades Darker By E.L. James

Fifty Shades Darker By E.L. James

The material is so dry and resembles so much to other romantic novels. As soon as I felt the story was picking up, it got boring. This book was very predictable and felt like scenes had been added just for drama. One thing I liked about this book was that there were more emotions even though it was still BDSM.

This is probably the shortest review I have written, maybe because I just can’t get myself to connect with the characters, or the scenes were so out of place. I am going to skip the last one; I know a happy ending is coming their way after Ana and Christian deal with Jack.

I rate this book 2/5.

Fifty Shades of Grey By E.L. James

After the huge hype and being told by almost everyone to read the trilogy, I finally picked up the 1st novel. This book has been compared a lot to Crossfire novels and being a huge fan of the first 2 novels of the trilogy, I can assure you that those novels have much better story line, better narration and characters.

So, this book is about Ana and Christian, the main 2 leading characters. Like always, one of the characters has a screwed up past, and in this book it’s Christian Grey’s. They both are young; he is rich, she is sexy.  Ana hasn’t been in a relationship before and Mr. Grey has his own definition of relationship. They are attracted towards each other which led to their “S&M” relationship.

This book is not for me. Being a woman, I strongly believe, every woman should be treated with respect. Don’t twist the words and tell me that this is for my benefit and I am more in control where I can completely see how it’s otherwise. I know when it comes to men, we don’t think much with our brain. But seriously, the contract given by Christian made me shake my head in vain. That should have been a huge red light. Despite of knowing what kind of relationship both of them wanted, she continues to be with him.  Spanking her ass had drawn the line for me, but the belt made me furious and I am glad she made the right decision at the end of the book. But we are forgiving kind of species, so I have a feeling that it’s not over yet.

Keeping my feelings aside, author did an amazing job in narrating the scenes; extremely educational and detailed. The book at times was slow and felt like a drag, more like get to the point. I wasn’t able to attach to either of the characters, maybe it has to do with my feelings, I don’t know.

Overall I rate this book 2/5. I will continue to read the remaining 2 novels because I have been told that it gets interesting.
